10 Days. 733 Kilometers. One Dream Destination: Yangshuo, Guangxi.

I finally realized my ultimate outdoor dream: bikepacking all the way to Yangshuo for a mix of outdoor rock climbing, hiking, and camping.

For the longest time, a trip to Yangshuo felt like a distant dream. I used to overthink my travel plans, feeling like I needed the perfect gear, the ideal travel companions, or a perfectly timed holiday before I could set off. But this cycling journey gave me a newfound sense of certainty. The world is right in front of us; all it takes is that first pedal stroke.

Instead of relying on external factors, I simply packed my essential bikepacking gear and gifted myself a free-spirited Chinese New Year journey.

The 733km Route: From Cityscapes to Karst Landscapes

My route took me out of the bustling urban centers and straight into the heart of nature. Over the course of 10 days, I rode through:

  • Shenzhen

  • Dongguan

  • Guangzhou

  • Foshan (including Sanshui)

  • Zhaoqing (including Sihui)

  • Hezhou

  • Yangshuo

Riding into Yangshuo was like pedaling directly into a traditional Chinese landscape painting. But the journey wasn't just about the stunning geography; it was about the deep cultural connections along the way. I wandered through ancient towns with millennia of history and explored century-old ancestral halls, watching the sunlight dapple across historical ruins.

Finding Cultural Connection and Peace on the Road

Recently, watching actress Gao Ye’s Spring Festival video deeply resonated with me. Seeing her celebrate the New Year in her own authentic way—walking into an ancestral hall and reuniting with family—felt incredibly warm and liberating.

I experienced that exact same warmth on my ride. When I visited the Xiushui Zhuangyuan Village in Fuchuan, Hezhou, I walked through a century-old minority village. Immersing myself in their local customs and connecting with the locals' pure, enthusiastic hospitality was an unforgettable highlight.

Every day of this solo holiday ride brought me an immense sense of peace. At every stop, friendly locals would call out from the streets, telling me to "take good care of yourself out there."

Fueling the Ride: Nutrition for the Journey

To keep that promise to take care of myself, I relied on Satine (Jindian) Limited Edition Hulunbuir Organic Pure Milk, which I carried in my travel packs. It provided the essential energy and morning nutrition I needed to power through the endurance riding, ensuring I had the physical stamina and good mood to tackle every kilometer.

Every year, people ask: "Where are you spending the New Year?"

I’ve discovered that the best way to celebrate is to dedicate time to yourself. Embark on a free-spirited travel adventure, enjoy your own quiet moments of exploration, and then return home to embrace your loved ones for a beautiful reunion.
