Key Rental Terms at a Glance
In short: you leave a refundable security deposit set by the bike’s value before dispatch, ride with delivery arranged to any city in China through our partner shops, and get your full deposit back after the return inspection unless something is lost, damaged or overdue.
Nationwide Delivery Flexibility: We can arrange bicycle delivery to any city within China. Logistics are managed in coordination with local partner bicycle shops to ensure the equipment is delivered directly to your hotel.
Rental Minimum (Out-of-City Deliveries): A minimum rental period of 5 consecutive days is required for all out-of-city deliveries, including Wuhan, Dali and any other non-base city.
Additional Logistics Fees: All logistics expenses for out-of-city deliveries are the responsibility of the client, including custom packaging and boxing fees, round-trip shipping and transit charges, and local bike shop dispatch and hotel delivery fees (varying by location).
High-Value Models: The Amflow PL Carbon e-bike must be reserved at least 14 days in advance and, because of its commercial value, is available on guided tours only.
Included Accident Insurance: Every rider is covered by a personal accident policy: RMB 500,000 for bike rentals, and RMB 1,000,000 for guided tour bookings. The policy is taken out by CycleQuest China as the policyholder, with you as the insured person. The Chinese insurer will not issue it to an international traveller without the photo page of the identity document you are travelling on — a passport, or a Hong Kong, Macau or mainland ID card — so we collect your identity details when you book, and the scan itself before you ride.
Rental Terms
Please read the three sections below before you sign. Every rental comes with compulsory personal accident insurance with a sum insured of up to RMB 500,000 per rider. We take out the policy for each rider, and its cost is already part of your rental price.
AArrival & Getting Started
- Transportation: In Yangshuo, if you are staying at one of our partner hotels, we can arrange a car to bring you to the shop for pick-up. Everywhere else, and for your return journey, please make your own way (a taxi is the easiest).
- Your gear: Your rental includes your e-bike, a charger, a raincoat and a helmet — all packed in two side bags. We also provide two extra rear bags and a phone holder.
- Ready to ride: Every bike carries a Magicshine 1,500-lumen front light and a flashing rear light. Our staff give you a full training session when you arrive at the shop, and you can charge your devices during lunch breaks along the way.
BOn the Road: Safety & Support
- Safety first: Please make sure you feel physically ready for your route and always follow local traffic laws. Helmets are mandatory for every rider. To keep everyone safe, avoid racing, riding the wrong way, or overloading the bikes.
- E-bike limits: Our e-bikes are capped at the 25 km/h factory assist limit, for your safety and to stay within Chinese regulations. Removing or tampering with that limiter voids both the rental agreement and your insurance cover.
- GPS support: All of our bikes carry GPS tracking. If you get lost or need mechanical help, we can locate you and come out to you.
- Capturing memories: We take photos and videos along the way to share with you, and we love featuring our riders on our website. This applies to special experience tours only.
CGuidelines & Policies
- Security deposit: A refundable deposit is taken for each bike before you ride, based on its original value: RMB 300 for a standard commuter bike (worth up to RMB 1,000); 30% of the value for an aluminium sport bike such as the Allez Sport (RMB 1,000–5,000); 40% of the value for a carbon bike such as the Aethos or SL7/SL8, or a high-end e-bike (over RMB 5,000). For several bikes, each bike’s deposit is added together. Guests staying at one of our Boutique Partner hotels are exempt. The deposit only secures the bike’s condition and its accessories; normal wear from riding is never charged.
- Deposit refund: When you return the bike, our team checks the frame, wheels, gears, brakes, battery, accessories and bodywork and photographs them. If nothing is lost, seriously damaged or overdue, the full deposit is refunded the same way you paid it, normally within 3 working days and no later than 7.
- Bike care: You’ll be riding premium equipment, so please treat it with care. We check it over together before you head out. Light scratches and scuffs are not charged. Damage from misuse that needs parts taken apart or replaced costs a flat 200 RMB labour fee per repair plus the cost of the parts. If you damage a small part such as a pedal, a grip or an inner tube, you can buy the replacement yourself, or we supply it at cost plus the 200 RMB labour fee.
- Serious damage or loss: If the bike is lost or stolen, or seriously damaged (a cracked carbon frame, a broken frame, a written-off wheelset or battery), we may hold the whole deposit until the loss is assessed. The assessment covers the bike’s depreciated value, parts, the 200 RMB labour fee per repair and the days the bike is out of service. It is taken from the deposit first: if the loss is no more than the deposit, the rest is refunded to you; if it is more, the whole deposit is applied and you pay the difference.
- Timing your ride: Late returns incur a fee. If you finish early we aren’t able to refund the unused time, and you’ll need to cover the vehicle transport fee (via HuoLaLa) to bring the bike back to us.
- Cancellations: Cancel 7 or more days before your rental starts for a full refund. Cancelling 3 to 6 days before incurs a 20% fee, and 1 to 2 days before a 50% fee, to cover holding and moving the bike for you; the rest of the rental is refunded to your original payment method. Cancelling less than 24 hours before the start or on the day, or not showing up, forfeits the full rental amount. If we have to cancel, you get a full refund and first choice of bikes on a new date.
- Weather: We ride rain or shine, but if our guides judge the weather unsafe we will reschedule or give a full refund.
- Records and scope: Every cancellation fee, deposit deduction and repair charge is based on the booking record and the inspection photos and videos taken at pickup and return. These terms apply to every rental, whether you ride on your own, as an international visitor or as a group.

Signing is part of the online booking: you choose your bikes and dates, enter the identity details our insurer needs, and sign at the end. If you haven’t had a quote from us yet and would rather talk it through first, send a rental request and we’ll get back to you.
