China can be a simple day ride or a complex multi-city expedition. The right product depends less on distance than on how much uncertainty you want to manage yourself.
Day guide
You want the landscape without a logistics project.
Best for first-time visitors, families and short stays where fitting, route choice, hotel pickup and a local guide remove most of the friction.
Multi-day
The ride crosses cities, terrain or support boundaries.
Best when vehicles, luggage, accommodation, route intelligence and mechanical support need to work as one itinerary.

Solve the fragile parts before you fly.
Entry, payment and connectivity are easiest to fix while you still have full access to your bank, mobile number and documents.

Check your exact journey, not a country list.
Entry eligibility depends on nationality, purpose, entry port, permitted area, stay length and onward travel. A visa-free transit policy is not the same as general visa-free entry.

02 · Payments

Stage 03 · Arrive
Move the rider, the luggage and the bike as three separate problems.
A transfer that is easy with a backpack can fail with a full-size bike box. Confirm every transport leg with the actual luggage you will carry.
International arrival
Save the destination in Chinese.
Keep the hotel name, address and contact number in a form a driver or station staff member can read.
Rail travel
Use the same passport as the ticket.
Complete identity verification early and carry the original travel document used for booking and station checks.
Bike boxes
Do not assume suitcase rules apply.
Check dimensions, station handling and vehicle capacity. Pre-arranged delivery may be safer than improvising at the platform.
Accommodation
Keep your passport ready.
Hotels register foreign guests. If staying elsewhere, check the current residence-registration requirements for that arrangement.
Stage 04 · Ride
Protect the ride from avoidable surprises.
The goal is not to remove adventure. It is to keep payment, power, navigation and a small mechanical problem from ending the day.
Bring your bike
Best when the exact setup matters.
Consider this for racing, a long expedition or a specialist fit you cannot replace. Confirm packing, weight, customs and every onward transfer before buying the flight.

Do I need a visa to visit China?
It depends on your passport, travel purpose, route, entry port and length of stay. China has several visa-free and visa-free transit arrangements, but transit eligibility is not the same as general visa-free entry. Check the National Immigration Administration and the Chinese embassy or consulate responsible for your place of residence before booking non-refundable travel.
Can I use a foreign bank card in China?
Foreign cards can be used in supported payment products and at some merchants, but issuer verification, limits and acceptance vary. Set up mobile payment before departure, carry the physical card and keep a second payment method available.
Do I still need cash?
Mobile payment is common, but RMB cash remains a useful fallback. Carry a modest amount rather than depending on one phone, one wallet or one bank card.
Will my usual phone apps work?
Do not assume every service will behave exactly as it does at home. Arrange data before departure, install the tools you need, download offline maps and translation packs, and save important addresses in both English and Chinese.
Can I bring my bike on a plane or train?
Airline size, weight, packaging and battery rules differ. Rail rules and station handling can also vary, especially for a full-size bike box. Confirm directly with each carrier and plan the transfer between the airport or station and your destination.
Can I fly with an e-bike battery?
Do not treat an e-bike battery as ordinary checked luggage. Lithium battery limits and approvals are strict and carrier-specific. In most travel scenarios, renting an e-bike locally is far simpler than transporting its battery.
Is it safe to cycle independently?
That depends on your route, experience, weather and ability to navigate locally. Use a helmet and lights, carry water and power, keep an offline route, avoid improvising onto high-speed roads, and choose guided support when the terrain or logistics exceed your comfort level.
Can CycleQuest move a bike between cities?
Sometimes, by prior arrangement. The answer depends on the bike, cities, dates and transport method, so intercity delivery and one-way returns must be confirmed in your quote rather than assumed from a public guide.
What happens if I have a mechanical problem?
Support depends on the product you booked. Your order and Ride Pack define the included contact method, service area and response plan. Independent riders should still carry a basic repair kit and know how to reach a safe waiting point.
What information do I receive after booking?
Confirmed riders receive order-specific details through the dashboard and Ride Pack, including the information relevant to pickup, equipment, route preparation and support. Those private details are intentionally not published on this page.
