We rented gravel bikes from Cyclequest to ride around the Chengdu area and then a second trip around Lake Erhai, Dali. The service and bikes were excellent. It made our trip thoroughly enjoyable. I loved cycling in China. Bikes can go everywhere. It’s not the same in Canadian cities!.

This tour was one of the highlights of my whole China trip. I fully recommend booking a full day tour (even if not cheap 😉) as the guide took me to spots that I would have never found on my own. The views were absolutely stunning and it was such an amazing feeling cruising through this incredible landscape with an e-bike. The guide was very nice and helpful, setting a perfect pace, and took many pictures. The quality of the bike was also great. All in all - I had a perfect day!

The Yulong River dike paths, Jiuxian Ancient Village flagstones, and Baisha farm tracks combine narrow concrete lanes, cobbles, and unpaved gravel—making the Fnix 27.5 Step-Through E-Bike, Specialized Diverge E5 (flat-bar gravel), Specialized Rockhopper 27.5 MTB, or Tonkin Bamboo City Bike the most comfortable choices. If you want a fast 50–90 km paved loop over the Xianggong Mountain pass, Xingping, or Jinbao–Gaotian, choose our Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL6, S-Works Venge, Allez E5, Triban RC500, Vook One (XS), or XDS AD350/RS500 road bikes.
No licence is required. Our Fnix 27.5 Step-Through E-Bike provides pedal assistance up to 25 km/h in compliance with China's non-motorized electric bicycle regulations, so international visitors can legally ride it on all bike paths, village lanes, and Yulong River greenways without a Chinese driver's licence.

Yes. Ancient village flagstones in Jiuxian, Fuli, and along the Yulong River weirs are polished smooth over centuries and become very slick after rain. Our mechanics set lower, grippier tyre pressures on rainy mornings, and we recommend braking in a straight line before stepping onto wet stone slabs.
