This tour was one of the highlights of my whole China trip. I fully recommend booking a full day tour (even if not cheap 😉) as the guide took me to spots that I would have never found on my own. The views were absolutely stunning and it was such an amazing feeling cruising through this incredible landscape with an e-bike. The guide was very nice and helpful, setting a perfect pace, and took many pictures. The quality of the bike was also great. All in all - I had a perfect day!

Before you book
Wuhan's East Lake Greenway (东湖绿道) is a 100+ km network of wide, completely motor-vehicle-free asphalt bikeways winding across tree-lined lake causeways, islands, and the wooded hills of Moshan and Ma'anshan. For fast road laps, rent our 585g-frame Specialized S-Works Aethos or Cannondale SuperSix EVO carbon road bikes; for relaxed sightseeing, choose the Specialized Diverge E5 (flat-bar gravel), Fnix 27.5 Step-Through E-Bike, or Brompton folding bike.
Wuhan is split by the Yangtze and Han rivers into Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang. A Brompton folds in 20 seconds into a compact 585 × 565 × 270 mm package that you can carry straight onto the Wuhan Yangtze River Ferry, into metro carriages or taxi boots, inside historic Hankou cafes, or onto high-speed trains—letting you combine East Lake with the Hankou concession district and Yangtze Riverfront Park in a single day.
While the main lake causeways (Huzhong Dao and Tingtao Dao) at 20–30m elevation are flat and fast, the Suburban Greenway (Jiaoqu Dao) and Forest Greenway (Senlin Dao) around Moshan and Ma'anshan Forest Park offer rolling punchy climbs and forest trails—where our carbon road bikes and Amflow PL Carbon full-suspension e-MTBs shine.
Helmets are. Every Wuhan rental includes a free safety helmet and verified GPX routes for the East Lake Greenway loops. Clipless pedals (Shimano SPD-SL, Shimano SPD or Look Keo) are a paid add-on at $5 USD per day; flat pedals come standard.
Spring (March–May, starting with East Lake's cherry blossom season) and autumn (September–November) offer mild 18–26°C weather and lake breezes. In summer (July–August), Wuhan is famously warm, so we recommend starting East Lake rides at dawn (06:00–09:30) or riding along the breezy Yangtze Riverfront in the evening.
