Introduction:
The Roubaix is Specialized's endurance road bike, and the one we hand to riders facing a long day on surfaces that are not perfectly smooth. Its Future Shock unit sits between the stem and the head tube and gives 20 mm of travel there, which takes the sting out of broken tarmac without any of the vagueness of a suspension fork. Clearance for wide tyres means you can run something comfortable and still keep road-bike speed. If your plan is six hours in the saddle rather than a fast hour, this is a better companion than a pure race frame.
