The Allez is where Specialized's road range starts, and it is a genuinely good place to begin. An E5 aluminium frame with a full carbon fork gives you a bike that is light enough to enjoy and calm enough to trust on unfamiliar roads. Shimano Claris is eight-speed and mechanical — not glamorous, but simple, robust and easy to service anywhere, which matters when you are a long way from home. Endurance geometry and room for wide tyres make it a comfortable choice for sightseeing days and first long rides.
